Don’t Be Him
If you succeed at that which is wrong, you fail.
Once upon a time, a King threw a party and asked his wife’s daughter to “dance” before his guest. The daughter danced so well that the king promised he would give her up to half of his kingdom.
“Mom, what should I request?” “Ask for John’s head on a silver platter,” said mother. And they did not live happily ever after.
The end.
I’ve often wondered why this wife/mother asked for John’s head. It seems rather drastic to me, especially since he was already in prison.
But, what if the wife of the king (the mother of the daughter that danced) was angry because of her daughter dancing erotically at a party?
What if the mother knew of, or thought she knew of something illicit, going on between her husband and her daughter?
What if out of anger that her husband had her daughter dancing in front of a group of men, she asked for John’s head on a platter?
What if out of anger at her daughter for not only doing the dance, but also enjoying every moment and every seductive move in front of her “dad”, she requested the beheading of John?
What if out of being hurt that her husband and daughter had something illicit going on, she requested the head of John?
This mother knowing that her husband had great respect for John, decided to have John killed while at the same time put a wedge between her husband and her daughter.
What if John was just a casualty of a war between a husband, wife and daughter?
What if John was just an expendable pawn, used to get back at a husband and daughter?
This is not unheard of, where a person can become so blind with rage and so filled with hate, hurt and anger that innocent people are sacrificed on the altar of revenge.
Is this you?
So hurt, so angry, so bitter, so blind, so jealous, so envious, so damaged, that you are seeking to put someone’s head on a silver platter. A silver platter as if this is a dish best served cold. When did revenge become a dish, something worth feeding off of, even feasting? Have you sunk so low that you desire to hold up an innocent person’s head before your family and friends, then kiss its cold lips and drink its warm blood? Who will you be roasting at the table today?
What family, what friend, what mother, what father, what sister, what brother, and what acquaintance are you hurting, poisoning, and sacrificing for your own private war?
We see revengeful and angry people hurting innocent people everyday on both personal levels and public displays. Daily, individuals are being assassinated verbally and groups are being massacred literally. Angry people are everywhere. People are so angry that they will kill their enemy, their family and friends, as well as, themselves. People, both young and old, appear to be walking time bombs, set to explode at any moment over the slightest offense.
Did you know that having anger on the inside is associated with murder? This is the danger of anger.
It’s Satan who doesn’t want even half of a kingdom; it’s Satan who wants someone’s head on a platter.
Don’t be Him.
If you succeed at that which is wrong, you fail.
